Design for manufacturing
The goal was to develop a high-quality UAV, suitable for various sectors such as surveillance, inspection and freight transport. A major challenge was to design a lightweight UAV with a strong internal structure that can withstand forces during longer flights. Crucial aspects to which we have contributed are creating space for batteries, external equipment and the feasibility of production in small series. Furthermore, weight savings played an essential role, which we included in all components and design choices.
Intensive collaboration was central to our development process with DeltaQuad. This allowed us to quickly develop and iterate with a multidisciplinary team without compromising quality. Experts in the field of aerodynamics, construction of lightweight shell parts and internal components came together in the mechanical interior. We used rapid prototyping with high-quality 3D printing to evaluate, test and improve. In close collaboration we have drawn up the production and assembly tooling for the shell parts.
