Requirements for Maritime Application
The demands on the housing due to the maritime application are very high. This includes impact resistance, waterproofing, maintaining signal strength and easy mounting of both internal components and the housing itself. Manufacturability and cost price are also important factors.
Design process of LongAP Housing
The TEKLAB Team started with the Program of Requirements (PoR) and developed concepts for the functional design, including the aluminium housing, plastic cover, seals and mounting system. The enclosure design was then refined, with 3D CAD designs and renderings for presentations. Prototypes were fabricated using 3D printing, castings and CNC machined housings for fit, appearance and mounting evaluation with HeNet and customers. Feedback was used to optimize the design, with emphasis on robustness, sealing, membrane application and mounting brackets.
Collaboration with HeNet
This project covered all phases of the product development process, from ideation to production preparation. The collaboration with HeNet went smoothly, with quick and well-founded feedback. The TEKLAB team is proud of the beautiful and solid result that has been achieved.
