The Original Challenge: Automatic Timing In 1982, the challenge started with automatically measuring the times of remote-controlled cars. What started as a solution for this niche quickly turned out to be useful in a variety of areas, including ice rinks, marathons and racetracks. Technological Challenges Developing equipment for MYLAPS Motorized presented several challenges, from extreme heat to icy conditions. Even under extreme situations, such as off-road races with intense vibrations, the MYLAPS and TEKLAB system remains steadfast, reliable and accurate.
Product Development process
MYLAPS timekeeping systems use active transponders that each participant wears. Antenna loops are placed along the circuit to receive the signal from the active transponder via UHF RFID technology. When participants pass through these loops with a transponder, the passage is accurately timed. This technology automatically measures and records each participant's time without manual intervention, which is essential for accurate and efficient timekeeping in motorsport events.
